Free Immunization Clinic Offered July 30-Aug. 10

The Williamson County Health Department, located at 1324 West Main Street in Franklin, is offering a free walk-in immunization clinic July 30-August 10 with no appointment necessary.  The hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-10:00 am and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.  Also, this year the Williamson County Health Department has an online option for immunization forms. Families new to Tennessee no longer have to sit and wait at the Health Department for forms to be completed. They can simply fill in the online form and attach their records and the Health Department will be able to email their new TN Immunization Records to start school.  7th GRADE STUDENTSAll students entering 7th grade are required by law to show proof of a Tdap booster. Students new to FSSD will need all required vaccines documented on this form and proof of a physical exam to enroll.  These forms are available from your child’s physician or from the Williamson County Health Department.  The forms should be submitted prior to the first day of class to the school your child will attend for 7th grade.  It is recommended that you contact your child’s physician in the immediate future to obtain the needed vaccines and updated immunization form.  Area physicians are typically very busy in late July and early August and it may be more difficult to obtain the immunization and form prior to the first school day.  Students will not...

Come aboard for reading fun on FSSD’s Story Bus Plus this summer

The Story Bus Plus program is a free community service offered in the summer by the Franklin Special School District and designed to foster a love of reading in children.  It offers reading time and storytelling to children ages 4 through the 4th grade (younger if accompanied by an adult).  Children may choose a good book, curl up on a beanbag and read or have books read to them.  Whatever the format, children are sure to have a good time aboard the Story Bus Plus.  The bus is staffed with certified teachers and paraprofessionals who love reading with children. Parents may sign their children on board for up to 45 minutes while shopping. This is the amount of time that children generally remain interested and enjoy their stay on the bus.  For smooth operation of The Story Bus Plus program, parents must adhere to the time limit.  Also, a cell phone number must be provided at the time of drop off in case a parent needs to be contacted. The Story Bus Plus will be at the locations below June 4 through July 20 (excluding the week of July 2 – July 6): Mondays (June 11, 25, and July 9)Franklin Estates Mobile Home Community700 West Meade Blvd. 10:00 – 1:00                                  Tuesdays (Between Kroger & Target)3064 Columbia Avenue9:00-12:00                              Thursdays (Publix at Franklin Market Place)1031 Riverside Drive9:00-12:00                              For more...
