History

Poplar Grove School began in July 2000 as a preschool through eighth-grade school of choice. It operated on a balanced calendar with 9 weeks in school and 3 weeks off. These two fundamental differences from the other six schools were intended to draw students from all FSSD schools, many of which were beginning to see capacity issues emerge.

In 2011-2012, the Board of Education saw the benefits of merging all schools to one calendar, enabling Poplar Grove to become a zoned school.
