The purpose of the Advisory Council is to foster open, direct communication with PGES administration. Council members serve as representatives for families at their designated grade levels.

PROTOCOL
- The goal of the PAC is to provide an open line of communication across all grade levels K-4. We will define areas of need, brainstorm solutions, and make decisions as they relate to our school needs.
- Submit agenda items in advance. This will provide the opportunity for research and a response to questions. Please email questions to ericksonali@fssd.org, carrolljan@fssd.org, or ormanjoh@fssd.org . A three-day advance notice of all questions will help in preparation.
- We will try to keep meeting length to one hour, but will certainly continue if necessary.
- Meeting minutes will be kept.
- Meetings will take place in room 101.

School News
Kinder – This week, started a reading fluency push to coincide with Dairy Queen incentive. Next week, starting a behavior incentive.
First – Getting ready for 2nd grade- math is clocks, measurement, addition and subtraction fluency, Dairy Queen reading fluency incentive. Making goals and responding well to this motivator.
Second – Highlight this week- grade level election to go along with Wonders and Social Studies (three branches of government). Writing personal narratives. Walk-to math groups are focusing on fluency and 3 digit addition and subtraction, with and without regrouping.
Third – Getting ready for TCAP- practice and testing strategies, looking at writing prompts, referring back to text. Personal narratives will be on display in the hall. Fluency push with DQ incentive- comparing data from Monday to Friday.
Fourth – TCAP review- first test is writing on April 15th. After TCAP, looking forward to the Natchez Trace field trip and the Capitol field trip.
Support – EL ELPA21 test is complete, current focus on supporting TCAP and collaborating with classroom teachers
Related Arts - Just finished art show, music program. Coming up: field day, Natchez Trace, turn in library books
Sped – New director for the district really helpful, everyone is working together to complete all of the end of the year jobs
Parent News:
- Concern about the current law in the TN legislature about the education of undocumented students and the risk of them not being able to attend school. Also concerns about families returning to their home countries.
- Response- If these become law they will likely be challenged and not implemented due to the rights of all people in our Constitution.
- Questions about our funding from the Department of Education
- Response- Title I will likely stay the same, Title II and III may be in jeopardy.
Principal’s Update:
- Rollover funds from last year were $3300- we did cut the PLC speaker
- Reward School and Model PLC Status
- EOY Treats – 2nd grade product service fair raised enough for a sweet treat at the end of the year for students.
PTO Update:
- Tea trolley today was a success!
- Staff Appreciation Week- first full week in May

K- going well so far, tomorrow is first full day, working on procedures
- 1- iReady reading and math, getting to know each other, off to a good start
- 2- Already looked at the data and were pleased with the students’ benchmark performance
- 3- finished iReady math, practicing routines and procedures, switching classes
- 4- new computers with a touch screen are great, one more test tomorrow to finish up benchmark, working on switching classes, lots of new families looking forward to help
- Support- We have been helping with all benchmark assessments as well as screening new students for ELL (20 kindergarteners qualified).
- Related Arts- all hands on deck for routines and procedures, learning names in class games, ready for kindergarten tomorrow
- SPED – everyone has been welcoming and supportive--from admin to front office to teachers, everything is moving along as it should
Parent News: A lot of new families, the first day of school there were a dozen families who stayed to have coffee together, this was a success!
