Principal’s Message

Welcome to Poplar Grove Elementary, home of the Lions! I am blessed to be principal of the best students, most dedicated teachers, and most caring, supportive parents in Franklin, Tennessee.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Middle Tennessee University, a Masters of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading from Tennessee State University, and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Trevecca University. My career in education began in Williamson County as a second grade teacher. I later taught kindergarten and served as a reading coach. In 2010, I joined the Franklin Special School District family as an Assistant Principal at Moore Elementary. I served in this position for two years before joining the Poplar Grove family as the Elementary Principal in 2012.

I am married with one daughter who is a student at Poplar Grove Elementary. As a parent, teacher, and administrator, I fully understand the importance of team-work in education, and I believe great beginnings start at Poplar Grove Elementary. The success of our school is due to the participation, talent, and hard work of our students, teachers, faculty, staff, families, and community—our Poplar Grove Family!

As we walk down this educational journey, I look forward to working closely with you. Together we can work to create a rich educational experience for your child built on high standards of academic excellence. If you should have questions about Poplar Grove Elementary or need to contact me my door is always open. You are also welcome to call 615.790.4720 or email ericksonali@fssd.org any time.

Yours in Education,

Alisha Erickson
